In today’s video, we’re going to cover a lovely beginner jump variation: The Eb Sidecross! The EB Sidecross is a great jump rope variation and a lovely addition to your arsenal!
The move blends in nicely together and In my opinions looks super slick! It’s a beginner variation. However, a basic understanding of the eb sideswing and sideswing cross is needed, if you got that down it’ll be easy! If not, watch the tutorial closely to understand what’s actually happening, take a few minutes every session to practice it and you’ll get it very soon! Let’s get it!
Breakdown:
Now if you take a closer look at the drill, you can see that the EB Sidecross consists out of two different jump rope moves. The first one being the Eb Sideswing and the second one being the sideswing crossover. The secret to unlocking this move is to fully master them separately, and then blend them together at the end, which is exactly what we’ll do in this video and guide.
Now for the second part of the move, we’re going to practice the sideswing crossover:
You enter the sideswing crossover by doing a regular sideswing to your dominant side and then as the name says, crossover your dominant hand over to the other side while keeping your non dominant hand in pocket postion. As you can see in the video, my dominant side is my right side. Therefor I sideswing to the right, making sure to keep my right hand on top while sideswinging to prepare it for the crossover. Then, secondly cross over my right hand to the other side of my body while keeping my left hand in place.
Then, lastly, after you’ve done the crossover to the other side of your body, you exit with a sideswing to that same side as seen in the video.
Finishing up
Now when you’ve mastered both the Eb sideswing and the Sideswing crossover there’s nothing left to do than to blend them together.
When blending them together try to focus on these 2 moments in your move: Firstly The moment that you exit your Eb sideswing, make sure to pull the hand that’s behind your back, straight into the cross pocket position to enter the sideswing for the sideswing cross.
Then when you leave the sideswing cross, make sure to pull hand on the side you’re exiting the move behind your back to blend into the eb sideswing.
That’s it .. In my opinion the BEST Beginner Jump Rope Variation – The EB Sidecross.
If it doesn’t work to transition from the sideswing crossover into the eb and back try adding a jump in between to give your mind some time to process what needs to happen. Then slowly work to removing that jump and fully unlocking the Eb Sidecross.
